Family LifeWilliam O. Lindsey, who also went by Bill, was born in Pelahatchie, Mississippi on August 14, 1919, to Sam William Lindsey and Manda F. Lindsey. The parents got married in 1910 and have a fourteen-year difference. They are also the parents of three more children: Tommie Lou Lindsey (1910 - 1987), Mary Lindsey (1912 - 1992), and Grace Lindsey (1914 - 2004). Sam William Lindsey worked as a saw pitter in the sawmill industry. He was also registered in the World War I draft on September 12, 1918. Edgar Preston lived with the Lindsey’s in the 1920s and was the brother-in-law of Sam William Lindsey. Preston worked as a block setter in the sawmill.
All four children went to school in Andrew Chapel and William O. Lindsey’s highest level of education was grammar school. He also worked as a farmhand before enlisting in the Army. |
